Leona Szuba 1924-2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Leona Szuba on November 18, 2021 at the age of 97 years. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her children. She was predeceased by her husband , Frank Szuba, her sister Kay Smith and her brother Stan Buczek. She leaves behind her children, Diane (Richard Podsiadlo), Susan ( Marcel Nouvet) and Andrew, 6 grand children,9 great grand children and many friends.
Leona was born in Strachocina, Poland and at the age of 7 years old she emigrated to Canada. The family settled in Pointe St. Charles where she attended St. Gabriel School and Holy Trinity Polish Church. At the end of the war she married a Polish airman, Frank Szuba and they settled in Rawdon where they brought up their 3 children. She was dedicated to her family while very involved in the community. She was a member of the Woman’s Institute for over 60 years, an original member of the Legion, and over the years she was active in many community organizations.
Our mother was resilient, generous, kind and wise . She was an avid reader, very interested in keeping up with current affairs, a keen bridge player, a great cook, loved to go to the city and walk on Ste.Catherine Street and always available to help others.
We miss you so much and we will always love you.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 4, at White and Sons 3555 Metcalfe Street Rawdon QC J0K 1S0 at 11H30 , visitation at 10H30.
