Conroy Patrick 1927 – 2022
Patrick Conroy, 95 of Rawdon died on the 10th of February from COVID-19 pneumonia. He was born on January 11, 1927 in Carraroe, Conamara, County Galway Ireland to Mary Connolly and Patrick Conroy. He was married to Bernice Jimmo and had three children Peggy Faulkner (Reg), Kevin (Barbara Phillips-Conroy), and Patricia (Bob Funk). He retired from the Northern in 1982.
He was predeceased by his parents and his dear life partner Eunice Cavanagh (February 18th, 2018) and his sister Margaret Gervais of Ottawa. He will be mourned by his children, his family in Ireland and his many good friends.
His passion was his Irish culture that he helped to grow here in Canada. With his friend Joe Mell, he established the Montreal branch of Comhaltas, an international organization that champions the Irish language, music, song and dance. In his retirement he moved to Rawdon from Montreal, and became even more active teaching his native Irish Gaelic. He often played his button accordion at Ceilidhs, and for many years he and Eunice helped organize the annual church benefit dinners for St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas that were enjoyed by so many. Still active in his late 80s, he served as President of Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada for the Irish language festival.
We would like to thank the Marlow family, Irene Grenier, Joanne Gaudet, the staff of Les Jardins and the many villagers who looked out for our father.
A memorial service will take place from St Patricks church Saturday May 7th, 2022 at 2 pm
